Project title: MRC E-Science VOTES Project: Virtual Organisation of
Epidemiological Studies and Trials
This is an exciting opportunity for an epidemiologist, statistican, health
services researcher or computer scientist to support the Imperial College
component of the VOTES (Virtual Organisation of Trials and Epidemiological
Studies) Project, which is funded by the UK Medical Research Council as
part of its E-Science initiative. The postholder will be a member of the
Department of Primary Care and Social Medicine (Head, Professor Azeem
Majeed) in the Division of Epidemiology, Public Health and Primary Care
(Head, Professor Paul Elliott) and will be based at Imperial’s Charing
Cross Campus.
The main purposes of the post are to:
• Work with other members of the VOTES team, in London and elsewhere,
to develop methods for using routinely collected clinical information to
identify patients for inclusion in clinical trials and epidemiological
studies.
• Within the London component of VOTES, work with another Research
Associate and Statistician to extract and analyse data from general
practice and other NHS information systems.
The appointment is full-time until 30 September 2008, starting as soon as
possible. Appointment to the particular grade will depend upon
qualifications and experience.
