Professorship in Mathematical Statistics: Engineering Stochastics
The position is in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, which serves
both Chalmers University of Technology and Göteborg University and is
internationally recognized as a very strong research environment. The
department includes Mathematical Statistics and Mathematics. Mathematical
Statistics has ca. twenty faculty members and more than twenty graduate
students. Research ranges from probability theory and statistical
inference theory, to applied subjects related to questions in science,

The department has a close cooperation with Fraunhofer-Chalmers Research
Centre for Industrial Mathematics (FCC). Within the field of the
professorship, three PhDs work full time at FCC together with two
professors who work part time. There are also three graduate students and
one post-doc working both at the department and at FCC within fatigue of
materials.
The scientific field of the position includes Mathematical Statistics and
its applications within risk management and reliability of mechanical
systems and their components. The duties of the position include research,
graduate and undergraduate teaching, supervision of graduate students, and
administration. The professor is also expected to act as a Scientific
adviser at Fraunhofer-Chalmers Research Centre for Industrial Mathematics
within the scientific field of the position.
