Expertise in multilevel modeling?
Statistician/Data Analyst required at the Institute for the Study of Children,
Families and Social Issues, Birkbeck, University of London
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months (with possible extension),
full-time or part-time.
We seek a statistician/data analyst to join the Institute to work
collaboratively in analysing data from several longitudinal studies being
conducted in the UK, the USA and New Zealand, all following children from birth
onwards (or in early life). National Evaluation of Sure Start, our largest
project, is designed to assess the efficacy of a massive, community-oriented
early intervention programme targeted at 260 poor neighbourhoods throughout
England and involving thousands of young children and their families.
Additionally, data from other large-scale longitudinal studies are also
available. Applicants would be part of a 3-person data analysis team
incorporated into a research team of 50.
Applicants should have a good first degree or postgraduate qualification in
statistics or equivalent, and a minimum of two years experience as a
statistician in a research environment. Experience in analysing large data
sets would be advantageous.
This posts requires competence and specific experience/expertise in multilevel
modelling (hierarchical linear modelling).
Salary will be £22,492 rising to £39,407 per annum on Grade RA1A/II of the
Research Salary Scales.
