Senior/Principal Statistician – Statistical Sciences

department is to see statistical thinking as an integral part of the
decision making and knowledge gathering process within Research &
Development. To help us achieve this we are looking for an enthusiastic
applied statistician to work in a matrix team of statisticians with a wide
variety of clinical and non-clinical skills to work on new
biopharmaceuticals.
In partnership with scientists working at the cutting edge of technology
you will provide statistical insight and take up new initiatives that will
create greater understanding and improved data-driven decision making. You
will rapidly develop your statistical knowledge and expertise over a wide
variety of methodologies, including linear and non-linear modelling,
factorial experimentation, design and analysis of experiments and
multivariate methods as they relate to drug development.
As part of a team of statisticians that collectively supports a
biopharmaceutical asset from discovery through clinical and non-clinical
development, you will help to provide efficacious and well-manufactured
products for launch on to the market. You will need wide ranging knowledge
about the asset and to be engaged with strategies and decision making for
that asset. Your particular role within that team will be to proactively
and knowledgeably promote statistical applications in pre-clinical
development, for example in relation to biotechnology, biological assay
development and control, and process analytical technologies; including
the application of multivariate statistical process understanding and
control.
Previous experience within the pharmaceutical industry is not essential,
however you will have a suitable degree or post-graduate qualification in
statistics and have demonstrated the ability over a number of recent years
to apply statistics, working closely with scientists or engineers in a
research or production environment. You’ll ideally have some experience of
programming in a major statistical package such as SAS, S-plus or
Statistica and familiarity with statistical graphics packages.
Outstanding communication skills and the drive to interact successfully
with colleagues at all levels and influence effective statistical practice
will be a crucial element to this key role. The role will offer you the
