Greetings,
My apologize if my subject line was less than clear, but I'm struggling
a bit to conceptualize an issue. I have a vague recollection of reading
about efforts in the life sciences to construct algorithms to translate
different sorts of injuries or medical conditions into a standardized
"index". Such an index would provide either a cardinal or an ordinal
measure of the "severity" of a particular injury or affliction. These
index values could them be used as predictors in regression or other
sorts of statistical models, as they are measured on a common basis. At
the risk of being overly ambiguous, I was wondering if any AllStat
members were familiar with this.
Thanks very much.
Cheers,
Mark
