The project investigates the genetic heterogeneity of GlaxoSmithKline population genetic collections, in order to measure levels of genetic heterogeneity within and between Caucasian populations; develop statistical methods taking heterogeneity into account; and investigate methods for optimal use of controls. Progress to date has recently been reported in Genome Research (Vol 16, pp 290-296, February 2006). A vacancy has arisen because of the previous post-holder moving to a more senior position. Currently funding is available only for a contract of approximately 15 months, but subsequent extension may be possible.
You should have a PhD in statistical genetics or a related field, experience of working on statistical research projects, including data analysis, computer programming and statistical software.
