Probability At Warwick Statistics (PAWS) workshop for postgraduates: 3rd -
7th July 2006
We would be grateful if you could bring the Probability At Warwick
Statistics (PAWS) workshop, as advertised in the following note, to the
attention of any of your postgraduate students for whom it might be
relevant. Registration deadline is Friday 5 May, and partially-subsidized
places are available for the first 30 registrations (at time of writing,
still some partially-subsidized places left!).
All details can be found at http://www.warwick.ac.uk/go/PAW, and a summary
of the workshop's aims and content is included below. Please feel free to
pass this email on to any colleagues that may be interested.
Many thanks,
PAWS organising committee

Workshop details:
The PAWS workshop is a new event for 2006 with the principal aim of bringing
together postgraduate students working in probability. The workshop will
include two lectured courses by invited speakers: Prof. Saul Jacka
(University of Warwick) will be speaking on Stochastic Control, and Prof.
Neil O'Connell (University College Cork) on Random Matrix Theory for
Probabilists. These courses will be accessible to graduate mathematicians
and probabilists.
Participants are encouraged, but by no means obliged, to present their own
work in one of the afternoon sessions. Speakers may choose to give an
informal introduction to an area of interest, or to present a more detailed
account of their research (subject to timetabling constraints).
Perhaps most importantly, the event will provide an invaluable opportunity
for meeting and socialising with young probabilists from all over the UK and
beyond.
