PRUDENTIAL
WHERE STATISTICS ARE AN ISSUE OF LIFE AND DEATH.
Statistician. Excellent salary & bonus & benefits. Craigforth, near Stirling.
Statistics rarely have an impact like this. Predicting the future trends
for mortality rates has an enormous influence on Prudential's position in
the annuity market, and therefore on the company's bottom-line performance.
If you're looking for a highly visible, life-enhancing role, this is
undoubtedly it.
You'll be joining a leading international financial services company with
16 million customers worldwide and a portfolio of respected brands. You'll
make your mark by researching and modelling mortality rates and longevity
risk for the UK annuity market, helping the wider organisation to
understand the importance of in-depth knowledge in this area. You'll
produce accurate and well-presented mortality statistics, determining
current actual rates of mortality by major risk factor, and project future
mortality rates for pricing.
Your background as a statistician or actuary will mean instant credibility
with key people. We're looking for a good statistically biased honours
degree or a post-graduate qualification in this area. You'll have
experience of Generalised Linear Models, Cluster Analysis and ANOVA, and
your applied statistical experience will allow you to produce the data that
drives decision making at the highest levels. You'll bring a broad
knowledge of software packages like GLIM or SPSS, and data manipulation
skills via SQL, or via reporting tools such as Crystal or Seagate. Ideally,
you'll also have an understanding of socio-economic classification methods,
stochastic modelling or UK annuity business.
On a personal level, we're looking for someone with the ambition to develop
their expertise and seniority, by undertaking further research into
modelling mortality risks and changes.
