MRC funded study: Ethnicity and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
There is an exciting opportunity for a research fellow with advanced
statistical skills and knowledge to contribute to a 2 year research project
funded by the Medical Research Council. This project aims to explore the
relationship between ethnicity and a chronic fatigue like syndrome using a
data from the EMPIRIC study. These data include a large national
quantitative dataset of six ethnic groups and qualitative transcripts for a
smaller sample from each of the ethnic groups. The aims of the study are to
review the literature on chronic fatigue and ethnicity, and explore the
relationship between ethnicity and chronic fatigue and the influence of
common mental disorders as well as other social and cultural
characteristics.
Salary will be up to £32,136 per annum (including London Allowance) on the
RA1A salary scale depending on experience and seniority. The post may be
suitable for a post masters student with sufficient experience.
