The deadline for submission of abstracts for the 2006 annual
international conference of the Royal Statistical Society is 5pm next
Friday (31 March).
The conference will take place between 11 and 14 September at Queen's
University Belfast, with pre-conference short courses and excursions
scheduled for 10 September.
Contributed papers and posters are welcomed on all topics related to
statistics but particularly in the areas of:
* official & regional statistics
* statistics & the law
* the communication of statistics
* the environment & climate change
* machine learning
* bioinformatics & epidemiology

Plenary and invited speakers will cover the themes above, while sessions
organised by the sections and groups of the Society cover topics
including:
* public confidence in statistics
* crime statistics
* applied statistics in practice
* uncertainty in environmental models
* design and analysis of microarray studies
* lifting in statistics
There will also be special sessions dedicated to papers presented by
career young statisticians and young researchers.
