JOB: Academic position for data analysis in Brazil (2 years).
The Intituto de Saude Coletiva in Salvador Bahia Brazil hosts the
Wellcome funded programme SCAALA, which is collecting a complex dataset
(including social variables, intermediate immunological variables and
clinical outcomes) to study determinants of atopy and allergic diseases.
The post consists of analysis of the data set and contributing to the
writing of the papers; and some teaching at postgraduate level.
Required: Training in Medical Statistics (preferably at Masters or PHD
level); experience of data analysis preferably using STATA) .
Willingness to learn Portuguese while there (although it is possible to
function in English in the academic environment). Willingness and
ability to contribute to writing of scientific papers.
Conditions: Two year contract at the Universidade Federal da Bahia
(UFBa), in the Instituto de Saude Coletiva (ISC), in Salvador Brazil.
The programme is joint with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine and the statistician will be based at the LSHTM when in
England.
Salary is in the form of a stipend (so no taxes) between 1000 and 1500
pounds a month ; travel to London and to the other study site (in
Ecuador) between 2-3 months a year (during trips per diem of 60
pounds).
