Analysis of Microarray Data Using S-PLUS, R and S+ArrayAnalyzer
Thursday 23rd March 2006
Presenter: Adam Diaz, Insightful Life Science Developer
Venue: Insightful UK, Network House, Basing View, Basingstoke, Hants RG21 4HG
This is the last chance to register for this unique course being run by a
member of Insightful's microarray development team from the US.
Extract
Microarray technology is complex, and experiments using microarrays are
resource-intensive. As such, there is an urgent need for rigorous,
statistical design and analysis of microarray experiments; and many
scientists, computational biologists and statisticians are making important
contributions. S-PLUS(r), R and the Bioconductor project include many
statistical and graphical methods that are appropriate in the analysis of
microarray data.
Course Objectives
1. Become familiar with statistical issues and modern statistical
methods for analyzing microarray data
2. Understand capabilities and functionality of S-PLUS, R and
S+ArrayAnalyzer in the statistical analysis of microarray data
3. Understand capabilities and functionality of S-PLUS and R in the
statistical and graphical analysis of biological and chemical data.
Audience
Quantitative scientists from biology, chemistry and statistics disciplines
who are interested in the analysis of microarray data and the statistical and
graphical analysis of biological and chemical data. The course will be of
particular interest to:
* Computational biologists who want to learn about statistical issues
in the analysis of microarray data.
* Statisticians who want to learn about statistical issues in the
analysis of microarray data.
Prerequisites
A basic/introductory understanding of microarray experiments and statistics.
