Two years statistical post in Brazil
The post consists of analysing a complex dataset and some teaching at
postgraduate level. The data includes social variables, intermediate
immunological variables and clinical outcomes from a large an ongoing
Wellcome Trust funded programme to investigate causes of asthma.
Many
publications envisaged. Required: Training in Statistics (at Masters
or PHD level), preferably
Medical Stats.
Experience in data-analysis. Ability to lead the analysis of complex
datasets. Willingness to learn Portuguese while there ( although it is
possible to function in English in the academic environment).
Willingness and ability to contribute to writing of scientific papers.
Conditions: Two year job at the Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBa),
in
the Insituto de Saude Coletiva (ISC), in Salvador Brazil.. The
programme is joint with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine and the statistician will be based at the LSHTM when in
England. Salary between 1000 and 1500 pounds a month (no taxes);
travel
to London and to the other study site (in Ecuador) between 2-3 months
a
year (during trips per diem of 60 pounds).
