Research Associate, Department of Psychiatry

Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work with Professor
Felicia Huppert and a team based in the Institute of Public Health
undertaking research on physical and mental health in the ageing population.
One of the group's current special interests is the causes and consequences
of both age-related disability, and high levels of functioning and
well-being, including psychological well-being and cognitive function. The
work involves analysis of data from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing
(ELSA), a representative population sample of people aged 50 years and
older.
Candidates should have a PhD in psychology, social science, epidemiology or
statistics, demonstrate an excellent understanding of advanced quantitative
research methods, the ability to manage large datasets and experience with
statistical packages such as SPSS or Stata. The post-holder will be expected
to contribute to reviews of the relevant literature, and the preparation of
manuscripts.
The appointment will be made for up to eighteen months depending on
qualifications and experience. Salary scale £20,044-£30,002 per annum.

candidate has submitted their PhD and is awaiting the award of the degree.
