Research Fellow (5 posts) Ref: 3005502NA
£35,254 £43,850 and £27,929 £36,959
Highly motivated researchers are sought for pioneering research
in biosensor technologies as part of a interdisciplinary research team.
Excellent postdoctoral scientists/engineers are required with expertise
in one of the following:
Bioarray development, surface attachment and protein/nucleic acid
analytical chemistry
Lab/clinical applications of microarray platforms, statistical analysis
of microarrays and variability analysis
Optical spectroscopy/characterisation techniques, including fluorescence
Electrochemical detection techniques
Biochip design and fabrication based on semiconductor processing
You will be part of the team of researchers working on the ITI
Techmedia Biosensing Programme (www.ititechmedia.com), a £10m R&D
programme to develop highly innovative biochip technologies as part
of a multidisciplinary collaboration between four major research centres
at the University of Edinburgh.
Five postdoctoral researchers are sought to form a team which
will research and develop new biosensor technologies for commercial
clinical applications using nucleic acid and protein arrays. You will work
in a multidisciplinary group of postdoctoral researchers and technicians,
co-ordinating your work closely with academic and industrial
collaborators and preparing scientific reports.
We also require a senior researcher as team leader of this
multidisciplinary group of postdoctoral researchers and technicians,
co-ordinating work, reporting progress and preparing scientific reports.
You will supervise the technical and commercial aspects of all of the
teams activities, in addition to performing research themselves.
This is a unique opportunity to work within academic centres at the
leading edge of biochip research, on a project with clear industrial
applications. You must have excellent scientific credentials and thrive
on working at the academia/industry interface. Commercialisation of the
research will be a key component of this programme, and this work will
be directed towards applications in biomedical research, medical
diagnostics and the next generation of medicine.
