Amgen will be providing scholarships for two students who are accepted for a
Masters Degree Course - one scholarship at the London School of Hygiene and
Tropical Medicine (Medical Statistics) and another at the University of
Reading (Biometry). We will pay all course fees and a generous maintenance
allowance. When you are accepted on one of these courses, please ask your
Admissions Tutor about the Amgen scholarship.
Who is Amgen?
With eight products on the market and many more in the pipeline, we spent
over $2 billion on research and development last year and generated over $12
billion in turnover. These facts underline our status as the world's leading
and most successful human therapeutics company in the biotechnology
industry. Amgen's UK offices are located in Cambridge and Uxbridge.
Why should Amgen want to provide sponsorship?
There is a shortage of medical statisticians to work in academia and the
pharmaceutical industry. We are looking to encourage statisticians to
consider medical statistics as a career and to increase the pool of high
calibre, well qualified candidates available for the biopharmaceutical
industry. Applications to London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
and/or University of Reading should preferably be made by 28 April 2006.
