****A Review of Basic Statistics****
Date: 27-28 March. Duration: 2 days. Price: 495 GBP
This course builds up the basic ideas of statistics systematically and quickly. It provides an introduction to methods of summarising and presenting data, estimation, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Mathematical details will be kept to a minimum. A wide choice of statistical software is available for practical work.
****Introduction to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA)****
Date: 29-31 March 2006. Duration: 3 days. Price: 720 GBP
(A fee of 1125 GBP for attending A Review of Basic Statistics together with this course (27-31 March))
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) is a key technique popularly used in analysing research data. Every serious researcher needs to acquire skills in using this technique, and to have a good appreciation of the underlying concepts.
In this beginners' course the theory, practice, and interpretation of ANOVA in studies involving treatment (grouping) factors and in regression analysis will be explained. The General Linear Model (GLM) on which the ANOVA is based will be discussed in order to demonstrate how ANOVA can be used to deal with more complex situations. Computer based practical sessions, using a range of statistical software, will give participants the skills needed to apply ANOVA ideas.
****Regression Analysis: A Hands-on Approach****
Date: 6 April 2006. Duration: 1 day. Price: 270 GBP
Regression is a powerful technique for studying relationships between quantitative variables. Summarising relationships by the most appropriate equation (modelling) is very quick when using a statistical package. It is also easy to progress from basic models to more complex situations, such as comparison of regressions. This course gives a practical introduction to regression techniques.
