GSK Permanent Vacancy: Statistical Geneticist, Harlow, UK or NC, USA
Basic Qualifications You should have an MSc, PhD or equivalent in
statistics, statistical genetics or genetic epidemiology, together with
around 2 years’ relevant experience in analysis of genetic data. You will
have knowledge of at least one statistical package such as SAS, Splus or R
and a working knowledge of UNIX.
Together with your demonstrated ability to handle multidisciplinary
projects, you should also be able to work successfully and positively as
part of a team. Finally, you'll need excellent written and verbal
communication skills and be flexible in dealing with changing project
priorities.

You will be involved with the application of genetic analysis methods for
the identification of human genes influencing drug response and
susceptibility to disease. Your responsibilities will include the
following:
- consultation with colleagues within the division and outside the
division on matters relating to statistical genetics and pharmacogenetics
- provision of statistical genetics expertise for planning/designing
studies, for data analysis and for interpretation of results
- application of genetic analysis methods to clinical trials or disease
data, for the identification of genes influencing drug response or disease
susceptibility
-preparation of analysis plans, reports and slide-packs
- communication of genetic results within the division and to
cross-functional project teams
