TITLE: Biostatistician
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for working independently on clinical trial projects sponsored
by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or
medical device companies. Explains, interprets and utilizes statistical
procedures for design and analysis of clinical
trials, Integrated Summary of Safety (ISS), and Integrated Summary of
Efficacy (ISE). Works closely with project
managers and clinical database managers and participates as a project team
member.
PURPOSE:
1. Leads the planning and implementation of statistical analysis for
clinical study reports.
2. Interacts with data coordinators and programmers to solicit and
obtain information.
3. Reviews the proposed methods and data collection instruments for
validity and efficiency.
4. Uses intermediate statistical methods, e.g. generalized linear
models, survival analysis, etc.
5. Ensures that all work is accomplished on time according to
established process; seeks continuous improvement in the process.
6. Represents the company at internal and sponsor technical meetings.
7. Prepares key portions of integrated clinical/statistical reports
and reviews computer generated tables for verification of compliance and
accuracy.
8. Maintains overall awareness in the field of biostatistics by
reading related literature, attending training classes, attending
professional meetings, etc.
EXPERIENCE:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Biostatistics or closely related discipline or equivalent.
Candidates with M.S. qualification must have at least 4 years of relevant
biotechnology or pharmaceutical clinical trial
experience.
Candidates with a Ph.D. qualification must have at least 2 years of relevant
biotechnology or pharmaceutical clinical
trial experience.
Strong SAS programming skills and experience in UNIX and personal computer
environment are essential. Ability
to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment is
essential. Requires strong organizational,
presentation, documentation and interpersonal skills as well as a
team-oriented approach.
