The Food Standards Agency are a non-ministerial Government department with
four key goals - to reduce foodborne illness, to reduce the risks to
consumers from chemical contamination, to make it easier for consumers to
choose a healthy diet, and to enable them to make informed choices. We are
now seeking the following skilled professional to join our team, and
contribute to our success.
We want you to provide and interpret scientific statistics, in particular,
to advise on the effective design, commissioning and management of
surveys. This will help us estimate the nutritional content of food,
monitor foodborne chemicals, ensure accurate labelling and measure the
effectiveness of food safety systems. You will also provide ad hoc
analysis and advice on a range of statistical methods, and have
opportunities to deliver statistics training to internal staff.
You must have a good degree in statistics, maths with statistics, or
equivalent and the proven ability to apply statistical theory - ideally,
this experience will have been gained within a scientific context. Good
verbal and written communication skills are also essential, as is evidence
of quickly assimilating and evaluating information and ability in
statistical computing.
We offer an attractive package of benefits including a final Salary
Pension Scheme, 30 days paid leave and 10 ½ public and privilege holidays
and a range of development opportunities. For further information about
