Ph D Studentship in Statistical Genetics
A PhD studentship is available in the field of Statistical Genetics at
Rothamsted Research (formerly Rothamsted Experimental Station).
Closing date: 31 January 2007
Project title: Approximate Bayesian methods for predictive breeding in
tree improvement programmes.
Summary:
To develop new statistical methods for predicting phenotypes of planned
crosses in tree (perennial crop, or any other) improvement programmes,
where we have a known pedigree. The aim is to explore the potential of
the Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC) strategy to extract
additional information from high-dimensional data, - including
phenotypic measurements, genotypes from genome-wide marker loci, and a
linkage map (and other genomic resources).
