Methodologists and Statisticians
Office for National Statistics
Newport (South Wales) and Titchfield (Hampshire)
Methodologists/Statisticians
Starting salary £20,933 to £24,819 (pay award pending)
Higher starting salary will be considered for exceptional candidates based
on their skills, qualifications and experience.
If you're a Statistician or Methodologist at any level in your career, no
other organisation can offer the vast scope, national profile and employee
benefits that we can.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the government department
responsible for collecting and publishing official statistics about the
UK's society and economy. We carry out the ten-yearly Census and are also
responsible for the registration of life events in England and Wales
through the General Register Office.
Our work is vital to the government, local and health authorities,
industry, researchers, students and the public. We inform decision-making
at all levels with statistics that are official and independent.
We currently have a number of Methodologist and Statistician opportunities
at our Newport Head Office and a small number of Methodologist
opportunities at our Titchfield office. These are mainly at entry level,
although exceptional candidates will be considered for higher level
appointments.
We'd like to hear from enthusiastic people with a variety of relevant
statistical skills. Our posts will involve researching and developing new
ways to carry out and analyse surveys, plus using administrative sources
and communicating findings to a broad range of people. Beyond that, you'll
have to be confident in interpreting large, complex datasets and
presenting the results for publication. You would be working either in our
specialist methodology team or within the business area actually producing
key results.
In addition to job satisfaction and inspiring challenges, you can look
forward to a full benefits package that includes flexible working hours, a
range of pension options, generous annual leave allowance and realistic
opportunities for further career development.
