Research Position (post doc) - Division of Applied Mathematics, Science

Applications are invited for one or two research positions (post doc) at
the division of applied mathematics.
The successful applicant is expected to conduct research in statistics,
applied probability, or in some field of computational mathematics. The
position will also be associated with the newly founded Statistics Center
which provides statistical consulting within the university.
The appointment will commence 1 July 2007, or as otherwise agreed, with a
possible extension of one year.
The applicant should preferably have completed a PhD during the last five
years.
The University of Iceland Act 41/1999 and the regulations of the
University of Iceland 458/2000 govern the procedure for judging the
qualifications of applicants.
Applicants should submit with their applications an account of their
scientific experience, including publications and research, as well as
documents certifying to their education and previous employment. Three
copies of scientific papers, published or unpublished, that the applicant
wishes to be taken into account, should be included. In the case of
coauthors the applicant should indicate the extent of his/her
contribution. The applicant should indicate clearly his/her present
research interests and future research plans should he/she be appointed to
the post. It is desirable that applicants include letters of reference
concerning their scientific and teaching qualifications.
Salaries are based on the pay agreement between the University Teachers'
Union and the Minister of Finance.

three experts in the applicant's field should also be sent to the same
