London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
The Clinical Effectiveness Unit is a joint unit of the The Royal College of Surgeons of England and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Its remit is to carry out national audits, develop audit methodologies and produce evidence on clinical and cost-effectiveness of surgical procedures.
The UK and Ireland Liver Transplant Audit evaluates clinical outcomes after liver transplantation. Its aim is to analyse the outcome of transplantation for different categories of patients, and for different transplant units while taking variations in "case-mix" into account.
For this audit, we are seeking an enthusiastic research fellow with a strong background in epidemiology or statistics who will join a multidisciplinary team. The post involves assessment of data quality, data analysis, and reporting of findings and policy implications. The post-holder will also carry out research to widen the scope of the audit. This research may include the selection of candidates for transplantation and the allocation of donor organs. The work could form the basis for a higher degree.
This post requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational abilities.
Candidates should have a postgraduate degree in epidemiology, statistics or a related discipline. Experience with handling large databases, modelling and analysis of multilevel data is an advantage.
The post is offered full-time for 2 years. The salary will be between £ 27,504 and £ 35,898 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
