Dear Allstat (ers)
Irish Statistical Association - 2-Day Course
Counting Processes
This is the first 2-day training event on which
the ISA has embarked and we hope it will be
successful in terms of participation.
We have two leading world experts in Counting
Processes coming to give us a 2-day course. This
must rank as a major opportunity for us to develop
expertise in a key area which is not really covered
in depth in HEIs in Ireland .
The course will appeal to those who wish
to strengthen their grasp of the modern theory
of survival analysis and will serve as a solid foundation
for applied work and future research study in the area.
We hope to see a good cross-section of applied
and academic statisticians using the course as
a way of updating and refreshing their knowledge
base.
The course represents excellent value compared
with commercial events.
The dates for the course are now
Thursday March 2 and
Friday March 3
Venue: Trinity College Dublin
Large Conference Room
O'Reilly Institute
Preliminary course programme is
Title of course: Survival and event history
analysis based on counting processes.
Programme
March, 2 morning block: (Prof.: Per Kragh Andersen)
Introductory examples, censoring and truncation,
heuristic introduction to counting processes and martingales,
the Nelson-Aalen estimator (ABGK* I.3, II.1, IV.1.3)
March, 2 afternoon block: (Prof.: Niels Keiding ) The Kaplan
-Meier estimator, the Aalen-Johansen estimator,
non-parametric tests, parametric models, Poisson regression
(ABGK* IV.3, IV.4, V, VI)
March, 3 morning block: (Prof.: Per Kragh Andersen)
The Cox regression model, goodness of fit
(ABGK* VII.1-VII.3)
March, 3 afternoon block: (Prof. Kragh Andersen)
Aalen's additive regression model (ABGK* VII.4)
(Prof Niels Keiding ) multivariate survival analysis: frailty models=20
(ABGK* IX),
and marginal models, multi-state models for bone marrow transplantation.
