SEMINAR
Kernel Methods in Statistical Learning
Prof Charles Taylor
Wednesday, 15th November 2006, 2pm
The Whittaker Room (211)
Abstract:
This talk will consider three types of "learning": regression,
classification, and density estimation (which may be used for
clustering). In each case, we outline standard kernel methodology, and
then consider ways to enhance this by means of "boosting" -- a method
originally proposed for enhancing crude methods in machine learning.
Following the talk, tea and biscuits will be available in Room 304
