Centre for Health Economics (CHEC): Postdoctoral research fellow

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow position
in a newly formed Health Economics & Outcomes Research Centre in
Basel, Switzerland.
There will be opportunities to work on research topics relevant to
the research centre, designated by the leader of the research team.
This will include applied as well as methodological research questions
in economic evaluations of health care interventions. The research
topics will focus on economic evaluations based on advanced modelling
methods in cost-effectiveness analysis.
Candidates should have, or be about to complete, a PhD degree in
Statistics/Biostatistics, Economics/Econometrics or any other relevant
field focussing on economic evaluations in health care. Candidates
with an MSc may also be considered but should have 3-4 years work
experience with publications in respectable journals. Candidates
should have strong quantitative skills and have a firm command of an
advanced modelling software such as DATA TreeAge, and standard
statistical packages such as Stata, S-Plus or SAS. Furthermore, they
should be familiar with modelling methodology & uncertainty handling
in cost-effectiveness analysis. The candidate will also be given the
opportunity to work on advanced methodological issues in economic
evaluations of health care technologies.
Applicants may be given the opportunity to work on a critical review
of published cost-effectiveness analyses in a clinical field
publishable in a peer-reviewed journal. The position will include a
salary at standard postdoc rates for a single individual. The research
centre will provide computing and other facilities.
