Senior Statistician - Wales Cancer Trials Unit, Cardiff
The Wales Cancer Trials Unit (WCTU) is a National Cancer Research Institute accredited and Cancer Research UK core funded clinical trials unit responsible for the co-ordination of a number of national randomised trials in cancer treatment. The group currently numbers around 20 staff, including statisticians, trial managers, data managers, quality assurance managers and programmers.
We are seeking to attract a Senior Statistician with an MSc and/or PhD in Medical Statistics (or closely related subject). Experience in the analysis of large data sets and in the use of SAS and/or STATA is essential. Excellent computer and communication skills (both oral and written) are needed as well as the ability to become familiar with the relevant literature (clinical trials and cancer).
The post holder will be the scientific lead at the WCTU for a specific disease area(s) and will be responsible for the development of the trial portfolio in that area. The post holder will be responsible for all statistical aspects of designing, running and reporting of trials in their area(s) and will ensure that all trials in their portfolio are running to regulatory requirements.
Opportunities exist for methodological research of practical relevance to the work of the Unit.

This post is a fixed term contract for 3 years in the first instance. The post is an agenda for change band 8a and the salary will be in the range of £35,232-£42,278 depending on qualifications and previous experience.
