JOB TITLE:  EXPERT STATISTICAL METHODOLIGIST IN CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT, 
Switzerland

SUMMARY OF ROLE:  One of the world's top pharmaceutical providers requires 
an Expert Statistical Methodologist to work within Clinical Development at 
their international headquarters in Switzerland - based near the borders of 
both France and Germany.  The successful candidate will act as an expert 
consultant in statistical methodology (frequentist or Bayesian) to ensure 
that effective state of the art methods are used in support of clinical 
projects, by providing expertise and guidance to biostatisticians and 
through direct participation in clinical projects.

CLIENT INFORMATION:  Our client, one of the world's top five pharmaceutical 
providers, is one of the crème de la crème of the pharmaceutical industry, 
and known as a leading name in the discovery, development and marketing of 
innovative pharmaceutical products which cure diseases, ease suffering and 
enhance the quality of life.  Operating in 140 countries worldwide, they 
offer a wide range of pharmaceutical products and services within the 
fields of primary care, oncology, transplantation, ophthalmics and mature 
products; with key values which include teamwork, collaboration, open 
communication and mutual respect enabling them to maintain the highest 
performance standards.

JOB ROLE:   Principal duties and responsibilities include:
·	Acting as an expert consultant in statistical methodology 
(frequentist or Bayesian) to ensure that effective state of the art methods 
are used in support of clinical projects, by providing expertise and 
guidance to biostatisticians and through direct participation in clinical 
projects.
·	Identifying and evaluating opportunities to improve and harmonise 
methodological procedures and technology within Biostatistics; conducting 
research in applied statistical methods as appropriate; and introducing 
innovative trial designs and analyses (frequentist or Bayesian). 
·	Initiating and leading global clinical innovation projects; 
proactively fostering the development of cutting-edge Bayesian or 
frequentist methodology in support of early and full clinical development, 
adaptive designs in phase II/III and decision making in a drug development 
programme. 
·	Providing focused expertise for the interpretation of results and 
ensuring appropriate advocacy with Health Authorities; identifying and 
evaluating new theoretical paradigms.  
·	Engaging in teaching and training activities for the Biostatistics 
staff.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
·	PhD in Statistics; outstanding knowledge in an area of applied 
statistics and experience in clinical/medical statistics and its 
application in clinical trials.
·	Basic knowledge of Bayesian Statistics.
·	A demonstrated extensive track record of statistical research and 
recent record of high-quality publications and presentations.
·	Proven skills in developing and implementing novel methods and 
innovative strategies in drug development projects.
·	Good knowledge of the drug development process and regulatory 
guidelines.
·	Good knowledge of statistical programming languages and techniques 
(SAS, S-PLUS, R, WinBUGS, would be a plus).
