Job Title:  SAS Oversight Programmer

 
Job Purpose:  
The oversight programmer's role is to oversee functional service providers
or offshore programmers in developing reporting software for the efficacy
and safety data components for clinical trials for global projects and to
provide the data presentations specified using the developed software.

 
Supervises:          
Functional service provider or offshore SAS statistical programmers and,
where applicable, contract staff

 
Liaises:         
Clinicians, statisticians, other SAS statistical programmers, Data Managers,
Medical Writers, Regulatory Colleagues.

 

Major Duties:


a)     The oversight of programmers who develop SAS programmes for the
production of statistical output for clinical trials (Tables, Listings and
Figures) ISS/ISE and ESUBs in order to meet regulatory requirements.

b)     Oversight of the execution of SAS programmes for the production of
statistical output for clinical trials (Tables, Listings and Figures) in
order to meet regulatory requirements.  

c)     Input into clinical project documents to ensure that SAS programming
needs are addressed in a timely manner.

d)     Ensure quality of SAS programmes and associated output via documented
quality checks.

e)     Input into the development of data standards, reporting standards and
guidelines to ensure efficient production of output.

f)       Input into the development of the next generation of My client's
reporting system.

 

Education

 
Essential Attributes

Bachelor Degree or equivalent training/experience in statistics, mathematics
or computer science

Desirable Attributes

Masters degree or equivalent training/experience in statistics, mathematics
or computer science

 

Experience

Statistical/scientific computing using SAS

*       Providing oversight to other programmers or similar functions

*	  Working in a clinical trial reporting environment (Phases 1 to 3)
and endgame activities (ISS/ISE, Electronic Submission, Regulatory
Responses)

*       Communicating with, and educating, lesser experienced programmers in
areas relating to technical programming needs and methods

 

Knowledge - technical and role specific (eg. team leading)

Study design and protocol input

*         Writing statistical analysis plans

*         Analysing data

*         Validation process for SAS code

*       Regulatory guidelines

*       Computer applications within clinical research

*       Software development lifecycle

 

Skills - technical and role specific (eg team leading)

Proficient in SAS programming

*       Proficient in documentation of SAS coding

*       Strong communication skills

*       Validation process of SAS code

*	  Strong technical SAS programming skills

*       Ability to navigate through Oracle Clinical
