SEMINAR: RSS Herts/Beds Local Group
Thursday 26th October, 6.30pm, N003, de Havilland Campus
(refreshments from 6.00pm)
David Boniface (Dept of Epidemiology & Public Health, UCL)
TWO LONGITUDINAL USES OF NATIONAL HEALTH SURVEYS
"I will describe the results of analyses I have carried out of two national
health surveys which in different ways have a longitudinal aspect. The
Health and Lifestyle Survey carried out in Great Britain in 1984/85 has
been followed up for 20 years with records of deaths and cancer
registrations. These data have led to findings on the relationship of
demographic and behavioural factors in relation to subsequent CHD, cancer,
and other causes mortality. The Health Survey for England has been repeated
on fresh samples every year since 1991 and makes possible the construction
of a pseudo-longitudinal study. These data have led to descriptions of
changes in the distribution of obesity in the UK adult population from 1991
to 2003."
ALL WELCOME. There is no charge.
Members of the audience are invited to join the speaker and Committee for a
meal at a nearby restaurant after the talk. (There will be a charge for this!)
