University Lectureship in Engineering Statistics
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a
University Lectureship in Engineering Statistics. The successful
candidate will take up the appointment as soon as possible but no
later than March 2007.
Candidates should have a proven record of scholarship and research
with a background in Engineering and Mathematics and a strong
interest in modern statistical methodology. The particular areas in
which the Department wishes to enhance its activities in statistical
methodology include but are not limited to environmental Engineering
and the monitoring of sensors, random vibrations, extreme value
applications, bio-sensors, bio-informatics, communications, image
processing, and radar tracking .
This post is part of a new University initiative in statistics and
the post-holder will have a key role in this initiative and will be
expected to collaborate closely with members of the Department of
Engineering and the University Statistical Laboratory and more widely
across the University.
The successful candidate will have or be expected to develop a record
of world-class research commensurate with the Department's
international reputation and top-rank research rating. Teaching
responsibilities will include contributing to undergraduate courses,
supervising final-year projects and supervising graduate students.
The appointment will be for 5 years in the first instance with the
possibility of reappointment to the retiring age subject to
satisfactory performance. The current pensionable scale of stipends
is in the range of £32, 471-£41,133 per annum.
