RISK ANALYST: WITH STATISTICS & MODELLING
Central Science Laboratory, York, UK
Band 4, permanent position, salary from £22,370 p.a.
A Risk Analyst is required to carry out risk assessments using a range
of statistical and mathematical techniques, and contribute to the
development of new approaches at CSL. The assessments will estimate
levels of risk to human health and the environment from chemicals and
other stressors and will include quantification of variability and
uncertainty.
The post holder will be required to work closely with scientists in food
science, chemistry & ecology and with other modellers, statisticians and
computing staff. The post holder will also contribute to meetings with
internal and external customers and produce scientific papers, reports
and presentations. A degree (preferably first or second class) in
Statistics, Mathematics or Science with substantial course units in
statistics/mathematics or an equivalent qualification is required.
Candidates without this level of qualification would need a minimum of
three years relevant experience. In addition you will have experience of
applying statistics and/or mathematics to practical problems and
producing technical reports, plus a real interest in contributing to the
scientific evaluation of risk and uncertainty in issues concerning the
environment and food safety. We are looking for an effective
communicator and team player, who is able to learn new skills rapidly,
understand questions about risk and propose appropriate modelling
approaches to address them.
