Statistician/Data Analyst

Fixed term appointment for 12 months (with possible extension), full-time or
part-time
We seek a statistician/data analyst to join the Institute to work
collaboratively in analysing data from several longitudinal studies being
conducted in the UK, the USA and New Zealand, all following children from
birth onwards (or in early life). National Evaluation of Sure Start, our
largest project, is designed to assess the efficacy of a massive,
community-oriented early intervention programme targeted at 260 poor
neighbourhoods throughout England and involving thousands of young children
and their families. Additionally, data from other large-scale longitudinal
studies are also available. Applicants would be part of a 3-person data
analysis team incorporated into a research team of 50.
Applicants should have a good first degree or postgraduate qualification in
statistics or equivalent, and a minimum of two years experience as a
statistician in a research environment. Experience in analysing large data
sets would be advantageous. In addition applicants will be competent and
have specific experience/expertise in multilevel modelling (hierarchical
linear modelling).
Salary will be #23,165 rising to #40,588 per annum on either Grade RA1A or
RII of the Research Salary Scales
