AHL is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of our
in-house managed futures quantitative trading system in which over
US$16B is currently invested. The department undertakes a diverse range
of activities including model-based prediction, portfolio construction,
risk management and trade execution analysis. The team has strong links
with other departments within the company and works on projects
including the development of multi-strategy products and performance
analysis of external and internal investment funds.

 

RESEARCH ANALYST [Ref: 1012]

 

The key purpose of this role is to conduct research and analysis which
will further AHL's ability to effectively trade financial markets using
quantitative trading strategies.  This will include analysing the
portfolio, refining existing trading models and developing new
strategies.

 

Responsibilities:

Undertake research projects:

*          Keep up to date with current academic and industry research
in finance

*          Work with data management team to define, source and organise
data for research projects

*          Write software to produce reports, analytics or back-tests

*          Produce written reports summarising research results 

 

Support trading of new investment ideas and strategies:

*          Collaboration with software developers to ensure correct
model implementation

*          Monitor positions, trades, risk, P&L and other diagnostics

*          Check consistency between research and trading results

 

Requirements:

***** Numerate degree (2:1 or better) with a quantitative post-grad
qualification, preferably involving practical data-driven application

*          Familiarity with Unix and at least one of Matlab, SPlus, R,
C/C++ or a similar computing language

*          Ability to write effective computer programmes which generate
accurate results

*          Ability to generate new ideas and undertake independent
research

*          Detailed knowledge of at least one area within quantitative
finance e.g. individual equity models, FX models, options pricing, fixed
income etc

*          Excellent attention to detail in order to obtain accurate
research results

*          Good written and verbal communication skills in order to
produce high quality written reports and deliver effective results
presentations

*          Resilient and committed in the face of research difficulties
and setbacks

*          Knowledge sharing approach and collaborative working style
