Team Leader (Surveillance – Research and Analysis)
£38,339 - £45,439
London
Make a difference to the health of the nation
The Healthcare Commission exists to promote
improvement in the quality of both the NHS and
independent healthcare in England and Wales. We
aim to do this by becoming an authoritative and
trusted source of information and using that information to drive improvement.
As part of our Informatics team, which undertakes
a range of patient surveys and improvement
reviews, this role will provide vital support to
driving forward the work of the Healthcare Commission.
As a key member of the Informatics Screening,
Methods and Research Department, you’ll help to
develop new and innovative approaches for using
information, as well as a new programme of
surveillance methods. This will involve
everything from taking the lead on data analysis
and ensuring appropriate data is used to look for
any potential risks to patient care. As well as
data handling, project management, report writing
and analysis, you’ll also be responsible for
managing and leading a small team of analysts.
An experienced researcher/analyst with a relevant
post-graduate qualification, you’ll combine
strong project management and people skills with
solid data management experience. If you have a
good knowledge of the NHS too, so much the
better. You should also be adept at using a range
of statistical software, including STATA, SPSS,
SQL and Excel, and have a comprehensive
understanding of applied statistical methodology.
It goes without saying that excellent written and
verbal communication skills are a must in order
to deliver your findings in a concise and relevant manner.
This role is on a fixed-term contract until March
2008. We are also willing to accept applicants on
a secondment basis. This is a great opportunity
to really enhance your future career prospects.
