EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH
Assistant Professor (tenure-track)
The Graduate School of Education, University of California, Berkeley, seeks applicants for a position at the Assistant
Professor level in the methodology of educational research, with an emphasis on evaluation, to begin approximately July
1, 2007. The successful candidate will join a faculty group in the Graduate School of Education that merges policy and
organizational research perspectives with methodological perspectives: In this faculty group, the logic and practice of
evaluation is seen as providing a common approach to decision-making at the policy level. The new appointee would be
expected to demonstrate in their research record a balance between quantitative and qualitative approaches, and to
complement and strengthen the faculty in the Quantitative Methods and Evaluation program. Duties will include teaching
introductory and advanced courses in evaluation and quantitative methods to graduate students, as well as providing
methodological research support across the whole School to the many students who carry out evaluations as part of their
graduate studies. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate methodological field, and be able to show
evidence for excellence in innovation in evaluation and in carrying out challenging evaluations.
