Missing data are inevitable in longitudinal studies, and introduce an
ambiguity into the analysis beyond conventional sampling imprecision
(http://www.missingdata.org.uk). The importance of effectively addressing
the issues has been recognized by the Medical Research Council in funding
this project, which will critically appraise, adapt and develop methods for
the analysis of three high-profile longitudinal studies where missing data
can be a major issue: the ALSPAC study (http://www.alspac.bris.ac.uk), the
ART Cohort Collaboration (www.art-cohort-collaboration.org) and the ART-LINC
collaboration (http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/34/5/979).
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to this important, rapidly
developing area, and lay the foundation for a successful research career.
Working with some of the UK's leading researchers in the area, you will
identify and critically evaluate competing methods for the analysis of
longitudinal datasets with missing data, develop and program the most
promising methods and contribute to workshops and guidelines promoting best
practice in handling missing data. You will make major contributions to
publications arising from the project. There will be opportunities to
present the findings both nationally and internationally. It is
anticipated that interviews will be held in late October/early November
2006.
If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed term or a permanent
contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research
experience. Further information can be found at
