Guide Dogs for the Blind Association
Senior Statistician: The Needs of Blind and Partially-Sighted People
The advancement of mobility and rehabilitation care for blind and partially sighted people in the UK must be preceded by an understanding of the social care needs of the population, as well as the nature and extent of existing mobility and related rehabilitation services available to blind and partially sighted people. Gaps in service provision can then be identified through the mapping of defined need vis à vis existing services. Guide Dogs has undertaken research to identify areas of functionality and consequently need within the population of blind and partially sighted people, with a view to proposing recommendations to address existing and potential service gaps. We have a substantial database on 1000+ people and require a statistician to work with us on the data analysis.
Applicants should have a postgraduate qualification in statistics and substantial statistical computing experience in a social science/policy context. The ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary scientific team is essential.
Knowledge of STATA and qualitative data analysis methods are an advantage.
This is a 3 month project post, in the first instance.
Fee: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
