Following the Business Statistics department re-structure a number of
vacancies has risen for highly numerate individuals who will welcome the
challenge of working on a series of actuarial/statistical tasks, whether
you are interested or not in pursuing the actuarial studies.

There are 4 vacancies at different level of seniority within the
department. located at the Head Office of Ecclesiastical Insurance company
in Gloucester


Ecclesiastical Insurance provides specialist insurance and financial
products to niche markets.

The Business Statistics department plays a key role in the financial and
risk management of the general insurance division of the Group.   The
department includes senior actuarial professionals and a number of students
at different stages of qualification.

Business Statistics - Actuarial Technician

Salary : circa £23K plus actuarial study support package and financial
services benefits

We are looking for a new graduate to start in the small Corporate
Statistics team, primarily working on reserving.   This would be followed
by career progression into other actuarial roles within the GI and Life
business including further development opportunities in
·          Reserving
·          Conducting analysis
·          Producing forecasting data
·          Development and interpretation of general insurance statistical
information
·          Pricing
·          Financial / capital modeling
·          Ad hoc actuarial projects

The successful candidate will be a graduate with good academic record with
a real commitment to pursuing an actuarial career in general insurance.
You will need to have:

·          At least a 2:1 degree in statistics, actuarial studies,
computing, mathematics or physics
·          Strong analytical skills
·          Commitment to high levels of accuracy
·          Good communication and interpersonal skills
·          Ability to work in a team and alone
·          Excellent IT skills / aptitude
·          Permission to work in the UK without a work permit

Business Statistics -Business Statistician (3 vacancies)

Salary : from £30K plus study support package and financial services
benefits (depending on experience)

We are looking for post graduates in Statistics or people with experience
in general insurance or life insurance looking for a move to work in the
small Business Statistics team, primarily working on pricing and stochastic
modelling.   This would be followed by career progression into other
actuarial roles within the GI and Life business including further
development opportunities in
·          Reserving
·          Conducting analysis
·          Producing forecasting data
·          Development and interpretation of general insurance statistical
information
·          Pricing
·          Financial / capital modeling
·          Ad hoc actuarial projects

The successful candidate will be a post graduate with good academic record
or an individual with insurance experience with a real commitment to
pursuing an actuarial career in general insurance.   You will need to have:

·          At least a MSc in statistics, actuarial studies, computing,
mathematics or physics
or   at least 2 years experience in actuarial function from general
insurance or life insurance
·          Strong analytical skills
Experience in stochastic modelling and GLMs preferred
·          Commitment to high levels of accuracy
·          Good communication and interpersonal skills
·          Ability to work in a team and alone
·          Excellent IT skills / aptitude
·          Permission to work in the UK without a work permit
