This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with at least an MSc in
a health-related discipline, statistics or computing, to support the
Imperial College component of a systematic review of the impact of
information technology on the quality and safety of health services. The
postholder will be a member of the Department of Primary Care and Social
Medicine (Head, Professor Azeem Majeed) in the Division of Epidemiology,
Public Health and Primary Care (Head, Professor Paul Elliott) and will be
based at Imperial’s Charing Cross Campus.
This project brings together a multi-disciplinary team from Imperial
College and the University of Edinburgh. It is funded by the National
Patient Safety Research Programme and the National Programme for
Information Technology (Connecting for Health). The postholder will work
in a team to produce a report assembling a series of systematic reviews on
the topic of information technology in health services.
The successful candidate will have experience of designing literature
searches and conducting searches of online databases, such as Medline.
Knowledge of medical terminology is essential, as are excellent IT skills.
Knowledge of health informatics or statistics would also be desirable. The
postholder will also have excellent interpersonal, time management and
organisational skills.
The appointment is full-time until 31 August 2007, starting on, or as soon
as possible after, 1 September 2006. Appointment to the particular grade
will depend upon qualifications and experience.
