Medical Statistician
Salary in the range of £22,856-£34,094 inc. dependent on experience
The HIV Group at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit coordinates a wide portfolio
of randomised trials and other epidemiological studies in HIV infection,
and has an established international reputation. The Group currently
numbers around 40 multidisciplinary staff, including 12 statisticians, and
offers a stimulating work environment.
We wish to appoint a statistician to assist in the analysis and other
statistical aspects of a cohort study of HIV infected children in the UK
and Ireland, and a number of other studies. The exact configuration of
studies will be selected to give balance and variety appropriate for a new
appointee. Opportunities also exist for applied methodological research.
Candidates should have close familiarity with one or more statistical
packages (e.g. Stata, SAS, SPLUS), have good communication skills, possess
initiative, and be able to work effectively in a team. We are looking to
appoint a candidate with, or about to obtain, an MSc or PhD in
statistics. Previous work experience in medical research would be an
advantage.
Salary includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement, and
depends on qualifications and previous experience. The post is available
for two years in the first instance with a possibility of extension.
