We have available a PhD studentship with full funding
and not restricted to UK residents.
One possible area of interest is that of
Bayesian Statistics as applied to Pharmaceutical/medical data.
The particular topic is the analysis of data in
the form of curves as arises from instrumentation
used to obtain protein fingerprints for identification of disease.
Interest here is in the analysis of mixture models.
Students should have an MSc in Statistics or a
degree in Mathematics with substantial statistical content.
The successful applicant will have
strengths in Bayesian Statistics, multivariate analysis,
and statistical computation.
The studentships will cover fees and provide a tax-free
stipend of £13,300 (including a £1,000 enhancement over the
EPSRC minimum) for 2006-07.
