Head of Cancer Prevention and Screening Clinical Trials Unit

Applications are invited for a manager to head 
this new Cancer Research UK funded clinical 
trials unit.  The trials unit will be based 
within a group that is at the forefront of 
research internationally into the prevention and 
control of cancer.  We have particularly active 
research programmes in breast, cervical, 
colorectal and prostate cancer prevention, cancer 
screening and statistical methods for clinical trials and epidemiology.

The post-holder will be expected to contribute 
towards defining a strategy for the unit, 
participate in resource planning, co-ordinate and 
organise trial activities and take responsibility 
for policy and procedures relating to trial registration and indemnity.

The post-holder will oversee trial activity under 
the direction of Professor Peter Sasieni (Deputy 
Director of the Centre), and will be supported by 
a statistician, programmer, data manager and 
quality assurance manager who will be recruited in the near future.

Future funding of the post will be determined by 
5-yearly performance review of the trial unit by Cancer Research UK.

Applicants must have a degree in science or 
another health-related subject and at least 4 
years experience in a clinical research 
environment.  You must have good project and 
personnel management skills and a thorough 
understanding of Good Clinical Practice.
