Statistician – 2 posts
Fixed term for 18 months
Two medical statisticians are required to join a research team
undertaking a range of projects in the field of environmental
epidemiology. The post holders will be required to provide statistical
support for a range of projects and to assist with the preparation of
papers and reports for publication.

The post holder will assist with a number of projects relating to
respiratory and air pollution epidemiology. This will include
providing statistical support, assisting with systematic reviews and
meta-analysis and analysis of routine health and air pollution data.
You should have an MSc or equivalent qualification in biostatistics or
a related discipline and good computing skills in relation to
statistical analysis and manipulation of data.

The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance of the air
pollution epidemiology databases (APED), extracting data from research
papers and entering these data into the APED databases, analysis of
data in the APED databases, preparation of figures, table and text for
reports and research papers, and time series analysis of daily
mortality and hospital admission data.
You should have a first degree in mathematics, statistics or related
discipline, and previous experience of data entry and statistical
analysis of large databases. You should also have programming skills
in at least one major statistical software package (SPLUS, R) and in
database software (ACCESS).
Starting salary for both posts will be in the range £22,637 - £27,279
pa inc.
