I remember reading an account by Savage of a meeting he had with Fisher in
which he tried to get Fisher to explain (without ever raising the dreaded
word 'power') how he would choose between different tests. (I consider that
Fisher had a perfect answer to this, which he explained in correspondence
to Chester Bliss). However, I can now no longer remember where Savage said
this. I don't think it is in Savage J. On rereading R.A. Fisher. Annals of
Statistics 1976;4(3):441-500. because on having a quick skim through I
found a discussion of Fisher's views on power which does not mention
Savage's discussion with Fisher.
Does anybody know where it is to be found?
