Biostatistical Programmer
Purpose:
* Write, test and validate software programs to support the regulatory
approval process or non-registrational activities
The Biostatistical Programmer Analyst:
* Is a regional role within US Clinical Development Biostatistics or US
Medical Affairs Biostatistics or EU Biostatistics
Reports to:
* Principal Biostatistical Programmer Analyst or Biostatistical
Programming Manager or Principal Biostatistical Programming Manager or
Head of Biostatistical Programming
Responsible for:
* Ensuring quality and accuracy of programming deliverables
* Adhere to all Policies, SOPs and other controlled documents
Key Activities:
* Provide support to (mentor) more junior programmers
* Participate in process improvement initiatives within Biostatistical
Programming
* Generate randomization lists
* Assist in the review of key study-related documents produced by other
functions (e.g. CRF, Data Management Plan etc)
* Write, test and validate software programs to produce SDF and analysis
datasets
* Perform QC checking of software programs written by another programmer
* Manage software development, testing & release in a Unix environment
* Understand and execute department-level, program-level and study-level
macros and utilities
* Write, test, validate program-level and study-level macros and
utilities
* Interface with outsourcing partners and vendors at project level
* Assist in the review of Policies, SOPs and other controlled documents
* Assist with study and systems audits by CQA and external bodies, and
respond to audit questions and findings
* Provide input to and participate in intra-departmental and global
Biostatistics meetings
* Promote and communicate awareness of biostatistical programming and
the role of the Biostatistics department
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of Global Biostatistics and
Development
Qualifications
* BS/BSc or higher degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics,
Life Sciences or other relevant scientific subject
Experience
* Biostatistical Programming using the SAS System
* Clinical Trials within Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology/Public Health
setting in Industry, Government or Academia
* Drug Development (Pre-clinical Development, Clinical Development,
Medical Affairs)
* Minimum 3 years' relevant career experience
