Research Fellow in Biostatistics

The Royal Veterinary College seeks to appoint an enthusiastic
biostatistician to this new position arising in part from the success of
the College research profile.
The post encompasses development of a biostatistics research programme in
the area of theoretical modeling based on large datasets generated by
on-going research work at RVC in epidemiology, pharmacology,
bioinformatics, physiological modeling and animal locomotion. The post
holder is also expected to be involved in the organization of the research
and teaching support of statistics within the College.
You will hold a higher degree in statistics, computing or related areas,
preferably qualified to PhD. You will be experienced in statistical
analysis and have demonstrated the ability to implement algorithms. You
will possess the ability to publish research in peer reviewed journals or
proceedings and to contribute to at least one area of current research
interest at The Royal Veterinary College. An ambition to build a research
group, contribute effectively as a team player in collaborative projects
and exhibit excellent communication skills are crucial. The ideal
candidate would additionally bring experience in developing and managing
databases, interest in statistical and mathematical modeling, some
understanding of bioinformatics and experience of writing grants and
obtaining research funding.
The post is a cross-departmental initiative and will reside formally
within the department that is most appropriate to the incumbent's research
interests. You may be expected to work at College campuses in Camden
(North London) and North Mymms (Hertfordshire). In the first instance
this is a five year appointment.

The appointment will be made according to qualifications and experience on
the Universities' Grade 6, 28,009 - 32,490 per annum plus 2,323 London
Allowance per annum and eligibility to join the Universities 14% employer
contributed Superannuation Scheme.
