Chair in Statistics
Institute of Information and Mathematical Sciences
The Institute wishes to appoint a Professor of Statistics to lead
our extensive teaching and research programmes in that discipline.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a relevant area of
research, and have teaching experience and an internationally-
recognised research record.
The Institute of Information and Mathematical Sciences includes over
40 academic staff in Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems and
Computer Science, as part of Massey University's College of Sciences;
at present the statistics group has 6 academic staff, currently at
the Lecturer and Senior Lecturer levels, in addition to the chair to
be filled. These staff play active roles in several
interdisciplinary Centres housed by the Institute: the Centre for
Data Mining, Centre for Mathematics in Industry, and proposed Centre
in Mathematical Biology. Degrees offered in statistics range from
three year BSc and B. Information Science degrees through to the PhD
degree.
