Vacant position of director of Statistics Centre
Applications are invited for the post of director of the Statistics Centre
of the University of Iceland (TMHÍ).
The Statistics Centre is a new unit under the auspices of the Applied
Mathematics Division of the Science Institute of the University of
Iceland. The purpose of TMHÍ is to develop research, teaching and
consultancy in statistics at the University of Iceland. In teaching the
emphasis will be on postgraduate studies.

b) To provide a forum for research and teaching in statistics
c) To enable students to acquire experience in statistics projects
d) To give statistics advice in connection with research projects in other
subjects

expected in the first years that the emphasis will be on development and
the duties of the director could be temporarily modified to reflect this.

extension. If the appointment is continued there is a possibility that
the director of TMHÍ could become an associate professor with the
department of mathematics.
As regards the education and qualifications of the prospective director
comparable demands will be made as in the case of an associate professor
in statistics except that in addition experience of consultancy might be
significant.
